Omega CDC received a 21st Century grant from the Ohio Department of Education to provide after school programming for students attending Fairview PreK-6 School @ Fairview Commons. The program is designed to meet students’ academic and social needs by increasing the amount of learning and enrichment opportunities and fostering a safer after school environment.
Program Goals
- Increase reading and math skills
- Improve test scores
- Improve homework completion, class participation, and classroom management
- Increase school attendance
- Increase parent/family involvement in children’s academic life
- Reduce discipline referrals
- Expose students to different modes of learning through extra-curricular enrichment activities
- Boost student motivation to read
- Reduce learning loss
- Generate more positive attitudes toward learning
- Have positive impact on children’s character development, leadership, and community involvement
